Let's start by understanding Location Access. There are two levels of location access for any mobile application:
1. "While in Use" location access
2. "Always" location access
"While in Use" Location Access
When enabled, "While in Use" location access shares your location with the app while the app is open and in active use.
"Always" Location Access
When enabled, "Always" location access shares your location with the app all of the time - whether the phone or the app is in use or not.
How OtoZen Uses "Always" Location Access
OtoZen uses "Always" location access to determine trip starts automatically - with no input from you, every time you are in the car. OtoZen monitors driving and records Driver Insights, sends notifications to Buddies (as configured), and detect trips without opening the app.
"Always" location access is crucial to the proper functioning of these features.
It is also important to note that OtoZen only accesses your location when you are on a trip and not at any other time. When the sensors on the Pod detect motion, a GPS location request is sent to your phone. OtoZen receives location information during the trip only.
OtoZen does not continuously access location information.
