Receive a Notification When a Buddy is Nearby

If your Buddy has shared location information with you, you can see when a Buddy is nearby.

1. Tap on Buddies and tap on the Buddy's name in the On a trip section.

   

2. Your Buddy's location is displayed on the map. Tap on Nearby notify.
   

   

3. Choose your Buddy's destination:

   1) Here: Your current location

   2) My Places: Your customized Places

   3) Buddy's Places: The customized Places your Buddy shared with you

   4) Search or enter address: Pick a new destination that is not listed in your places or Buddy's places

   

4. You can set nearby notifications based on Time or Distance.

   • Time: Slide to pick a time between 0 and 20 minutes. OtoZen factors in the real-time traffic conditions of your Buddy's trip, to give you the most precise notification. Tap Save.
     

     You will receive a notification when your Buddy is within the specified threshold.

             

   • Distance: Slide to pick a distance between 0 and 10 miles. Tap Save.

     When your buddy is nearby as per the trigger you set, you will get a notification as shown below

             

   Note:

   The nearby notification that is set up here is for a single trip that is ongoing. At the end of the trip, this notification request is no longer valid if it did not trigger. Please see here to set up recurring trip notifications for all trips and not just for the Current trip.
